Playing at Home

It's been pretty cold here and we are having fun with our fireplace! Logan plays in front of it and it seems so cozy!

Gator Game

Despite a disappointing game, Logan was dressed to show his Orange and Blue support last weekend! He had fun hanging out with daddy all day!

Logan's First Plane Ride

We attended a wedding over Thanksgiving weekend in Houston - and we took Logan. What an amazing traveller! He did so great - not a peep on the plane, and I think he really enjoyed seeing new things! Some pics from our trip..

Logan met Chase at the wedding! So much fun!!

Two Months! Gas, Reflux, Growth Spurt, and Logan's First Cold

Crazy Logan peaked about a week ago. His discomfort simply got too bad and we were having difficulty consoling him (for the most part up to last week he would always be content and happy when held, rocked, walked, or bounced). Then he just wouldn't take to the tricks we had up our sleeves, and I wasn't sure what was going on. I have suspected reflux for a while...but didn't think it was bothering him too much until he started to STRONGLY protest the changing table (usually he loves it because he can look at these things I have hanging from it). Logan has always gotten this "sour taste in his mouth" look - that's the best I can describe it...but last week he began coughing and gagging, followed by what seemed like a pause in his breathing. We weren't sleeping because he HATES being on his back and would wake constantly and cry out. I also think he was growing last week because he ate every 2-2.5 hours. To top it off, he got his first cold (all three of us got it!) Needless to say, Logan was miserable, and we were pretty tired. So we acted in full force and began treating his reflux, his cold, and his possible gas (I am not sure how bad that was bothering him but figured, what the heck, let's add the gas drops).

Wouldn't you know - Logan is a new little man! He hardly cries unless he is tired or bored (and I can read his signals again). He sleeps for 2 hours straight during the day (the BEST naps he has ever had), and has gone a few 5-6 hour stretches at night. He smiles, coos, and seems so pleasant! It is hard to know what did it though, since we acted on so many issues at one time. And of course, it could simply be that Logan is two months, and developmentally he is able to handle the world a little more. Who knows. Thanks to all my mommy friends who have listened to me and offered encouragement over the phone - I couldn't have gotten through the last few weeks without you!

Hopefully now, with Logan napping a little (and NOT in my arms), I will be able to keep up with posts. And the pictures should be more fun since he is such an animated little guy these days!

Stats:
Weight - 12 lbs, 2 oz (60%)
Length - 23.75 inches (80%)

Not sure if you can see but we moved him out of the Pack'N'Play in our room to his crib - you can see him now on the video monitor. :) Rather than take the Pack'N'Play down, I quickly found another use for it as a laundry organizer, ha!

Six Weeks - Halloween Trip to Grandma's

We spent a week at Grandma's house around Halloween. This would be Logan's first road trip and he did alright. At this point (around 6 weeks), Logan was still quite fussy, blessing us with a "witching hour" which was actually more like 3-4 hours each evening. The nice thing about being in a house with FIVE adults though (as opposed to just Marc and I) is that the village approach allowed for Logan to feel loved and comforted, while no one was burned out. The perfect trip, at the perfect time. A few pictures of his week:

Aunt Katie bought him a Halloween outfit (this is one of several that we had)

We call this "The Thinker" - not sure what he was trying to decide in his sleep!

Getting tired (FINALLY!) as mommy bounced him in the piano room...Logan was not the best sleeper during weeks 3-8 (more on how we got him to finally sleep in the next post).

The ONE thing that is a SURE bet to calming Logan is his bath - we do this in the evenings...

When he does sleep - we let sleeping Logan be, so Aunt Katie worked from the bed in order to keep an eye on him while on his tummy (not the preferred AAP sleeping position). :)

Logan didn't really LOVE tummy time around 6 weeks...I think he wanted to see the world, so he would work so hard to get himself rolled over.

Coming Soon

Another update is on its way, I promise! We have had a busy four weeks- between a trip to see grandma and grandpa for a week, catching our first cold, developing some reflux, and in general deciding to NEVER sleep, mommy has been quite busy. :) I do have some pictures stored away on the camera, and at almost two months - a blog update is due! Stay tuned, and I will sit down soon. :)

Once Upon a Time...Well, Four Weeks Ago...

I can't believe four weeks ago Logan was still in my belly! My friend Cicely is a professional photographer in the DC area. Before Logan was born, she took some pictures of me pregnant. She just sent me some of the completed photos, and I am posting them mostly to sing her praises! If anyone needs a photographer for anything (weddings, pregnancy, portraits, etc.) she is fantastic! See her website at procopioblog.com. I am hoping she will capture some images of Logan when we see them at Christmas.

And of course...here is Logan at 4 weeks old!

Hello World, I'm Awake!

Well, we have had a busy week! Logan is no longer a new-to-the-world Sleepyhead. He is awake much more. Along with this "awakeness" however, has come a little fussyness (smile). We are working to figure him out...his routine...and his cries. Overall, he is still a pretty easy baby - consolable, but not always predictable- which keeps mommy on her toes. When I think to myself "I'll get that done next time he naps..." I find that he decides not to nap soundly, but would rather cry and whine and want to be held all afternoon. He is doing very well at night though- we wrap him up like a glow worm and he sleeps straight through between feeds in his pack-n-play.

I am in awe of him - how he doesn't even look like a "baby," but rather like a little boy in a tiny body. It's so cute! I continuously snap pictures to try and capture what he looks like each day because I feel like he is changing so much, so fast! I'm posting some random pictures (possibly a little redundant) from the past weeks...hope you think they are as fun as I do. :)

Logan is 3 weeks old!

He likes to sleep curled up, sort-of on his stomach...so when he is napping and I can monitor him, I lay him across his Boppy. This is what he did with his hands the other day!!

One night Logan was especially fussy and would not let us sit down with him - he wanted to walk and walk...so Marc pulled out the Baby Bjorn (spelling?) and walked hands-free until Logan conked out. Success!!

Logan doesn't sleep in the swing at night, but we sometimes get him geared up for night-time if he is awake a lot during the day. We swaddle him to get him into a sound sleep for the night...

This is Logan waking up one day after a nap...He has the perfect little milk-tongue!

I'm using these enviro-friendly, biodegradable (and FLUSHABLE) diapers. So far, they aren't too bad but they do require a little more work (assembly, sort-of). Marc likes the traditional diapers so we actually do a little of both (that's the only way to ensure that he continues to participate in the Output management - I am in charge of Input, he is in charge of Output when he is home...kind of a nice set up).
Yawn!
